The UK-funded program has the potential to be a catalyst for major change and progress in the Somali health sector. The Somali Health and Nutrition program comes at a critical point in Somalia’s history with the aim of improving the health and nutrition status of Somalis. There is a particular focus on women and children. The UK Aid funded program commenced in 2016 and will run through to 2021. With a high maternal mortality ratio and the disproportionate impact of the conflict on women and girls in Somalia, the program will deliver health services to meet the critical needs of the Somali population. It will empower vulnerable groups to overcome barriers in accessing health services in hard to reach areas. Pray that the nation will cry to God for healing. Pray that the families are restored to good living (The Bible, Jeremiah 30:17).

16-year-old housemaid, Uzma Bibi, was found beaten to death and dumped into a canal. Her wealthy employer and two other women have been arrested for her murder. 8.5 million people work as domestic workers, many of whom are children, who are made to work in order to help the financial situation of their very poor families. The news of her death did create an uproar in Pakistani social media. Pray that people will continue to be so offended by the inhumane treatment of domestic workers that changes in societal thinking will be long lasting (The Bible, Exodus 20:13).
