Day 11
Laos, Southeast Asia

Laos is one of the world’s few remaining communist states, enduring as a one-party socialist Marxist republic supported financially by China and Vietnam. Economic progress was made in the last year, with poverty now halved, and education and health outcomes improved, but COVID-19 will set this growth back. Persecution against Christian Believers has increased in recent years. The long-standing domination of Buddhism violently attacks Christians. The Communists also want to see Believers eliminated as it considers Christianity a foreign intrusion. However, in spite of persecution, the Christian community grows with bold Believers. 32 percent of the population are under the age of 15, so children’s and youth ministry is very important.
Praise Report
Praise God for discipleship programs for new Believers that have been successfully been transitioned to an online platform due to COVID-19 in Laos this year (The Bible, Matthew 11:29).
Prayer Requests
Churches have been randomly raided, with their property confiscated and pastors and leaders jailed. Pray for their faith to be strengthened (The Bible, 1 Chronicles 19:13).
Pray for the government to address their high debt and begin to meet the felt needs of their impoverished population (The Bible, Proverbs 22:26).
Call to Salvation
Pray for the salvation of those in authority (The Bible, 1 Timothy 2:1-4).

Western Sahara, North Africa

Western Sahara is a sparsely-populated area of mostly desert situated on the northwest coast of Africa. A former Spanish colony, it was annexed by Morocco in 1975. Since then it has been the subject of a long-running territorial dispute between Morocco and its indigenous Saharawi people, led by the Polisario Front. A 16-year-long insurgency ended with a UN-brokered truce in 1991 and the promise of a referendum on independence which has yet to take place. Home to phosphate reserves and rich fishing grounds off its coast, Western Sahara is also believed to have as yet untapped offshore oil deposits. This coordination mechanism has been created upon instruction from Sahrawi President Brahim Ghali under the supervision of Premier Bouchraya Hamoudi Beyoun. Dr. Mohamed Salem Chej, the official spokesman for the National Committee for the Prevention of CORONAVIRUS, has confirmed that the Sahrawi refugee camps began to witness stability in the number of cases; as no case has been recorded for the sixth consecutive day. Refugees from Western Sahara in camps in Algeria’s Tindouf province lose animals to a livestock epidemic, while COVID - 19 restrictions wipe out other means of income.
Praise Report
We praise God that the few Believers in Western Sahara will use the opportunities to spread the love of Christ during this pandemic time as most of the people have not heard the Gospel of Christ (The Bible, 1 Thessalonians 3:2).
Prayer Requests
We pray that God will raise up care takers of Sahrawi refugees suffering due to CORONAVIRUS and also the loss of animals to livestock epidemic (The Bible, Psalm 72:13).
We pray that the continuing conflict of Western Sahara with Morocco will be a miraculously resolved by the mighty hand of God and peace will be established by the love of God (The Bible, Proverbs 10:12).
Call to Salvation
We pray that the estimated 165,000 Western Saharan refugees, living in five camps located around Tindouf, in western Algeria's vast desert confined to camps will get humanitarian aid and the power of the Gospel of Christ will be made known among them (The Bible, Psalm 31:2).
