Day 13

Nepal, South Asia
Nepal is famous for its high mountains and for its devastating earthquake that shook the nation in 2015. Recovery from the earthquake has been hampered by political infighting which has prevented the release of funds that were pledged. An extremely poor country, Nepal’s economy relies on international aid and tourism which has suffered as a result of COVID-19. Human trafficking and corruption remain major problems. With the majority of its people claiming Hinduism, Nepal has joined India as the world’s only official Hindu nations. Freedom of religion was enacted in 2006, but persecution has intensified. In the last year, new laws introduced to prevent religious conversion, were tightened again.

Praise Report
Nepali church planters have been very successful in seeing people come to faith in Jesus Christ and see new church fellowships born. Pray that these new churches will multiply themselves (The Bible, Acts 16:5).

Prayer Requests
Pray that the Church will grow in unity and love for one another this year, breaking down the caste divides in society (The Bible, John 13:35).

Praise God that Nepali Believers are increasingly developing a vision to reach out to Tibetan people living in Nepal, and to neighbouring Bhutan. Pray for fruit to come from these interactions (The Bible, 2 Corinthians 6:13).

Call to Salvation
Pray that rich people, poor people, those with influence, and those who are marginalised will all experience the love of Christ (The Bible, 2 Corinthians 5:15).

United Arab Emirates
The UAE is a federation of seven states, called emirates, ruled by tribal chiefs called Sheiks or Emirs. The largest and richest of the emirates is Abu Dhabi with significant oil and gas reserves. The present Emir is Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The UAE has approved the use of emergency authorization of the CORONAVIRUS vaccine to at-risk workers. In a series of tweets, UAE allowed the emergency use of COVID-19 vaccine saying one of the very first doses will be available to "first defense" workers who are at risk. The government informed that those who received the vaccine during the trials have developed antibodies and did not reflect any harmful side effects. The vaccine is still under phase-3 trials. UAE's move to allow emergency use of the vaccine seems to have been motivated towards curbing the virus to spread further but the risk involved in the move cannot be ignored too.

Praise Report
We praise God that the children of frontline healthcare professionals in the UAE will be eligible for scholarships across the country’s public schools called “Hayyakum,” which aims to remove some of the financial burden (The Bible, Psalm 81:6).

Prayer Requests
We pray that UAE’s relationship with Israel will be comprehensive and deep, and will ultimately help the Palestinian cause. We pray that the country’s commitment to wide-ranging diplomatic, economic and cultural exchanges with Israel will improve (The Bible, 1 Timothy 2:2).

UAE is hosting the Indian Premier League this year after the scheduled tournament was postponed in India due to the outbreak of CORONAVIRUS. We pray that both the players and the fans will realize the need of a Savior in their lives (The Bible, Isaiah 43:11).

Call to Salvation
Pray that the expatriate Christians in UAE will demonstrate Christ in their words and deeds during this COVID – 19 crisis time and lead many to the Kingdom of God (The Bible, Matthew 5:16).
