Day 14

Albania, Southeast Europe
Albania was once the poorest nation in Europe, but poverty has been cut by more than half, and the economy continues to show positive signs of growth. Despite having a well-known mob, Albania made notable steps in combating drugs, weapons and human trafficking. Reconstruction after the devastating earthquake in November 2019 had only just started when the COVID-19 pandemic began. Last year the European Commission said Albania had shown enough progress towards implementing the required reforms that accession negotiations can begin. Under Communist rule, no religion was allowed. Now, Islam claims twice as many followers as Christianity. Christian Believers enjoy worshipping openly in a country that once restricted religious freedom, although, most who claim Christianity are reported to be nominal in their faith.

Praise Report
Praise God that COVID-19 seems to have impacted Albania fairly mildly compared with other nations in the region and the medical system has been able to cope with the situation there (The Bible, 2 Chronicles 30:9).

Prayer Requests
Pray for unity and humility in the churches and between Christian Believers (The Bible, Proverbs 22:4).

Pray that corruption will be dismantled and justice be carried out in every area of life and community from the government to the ordinary businesses, schools, and hospitals (The Bible, Daniel 6:4).

Call to Salvation
Pray that Christians in Albania will be trained in effective evangelism to share their faith with the neighbours and friends (The Bible, 1 Corinthians 1:17).

Morocco, North Africa
Secretary of State Michael Pompeo lauded Morocco for its efforts to help African states counter the CORONAVIRUS outbreak. He thanked Morocco for its leadership on critically important public health efforts in Africa during the COVID-19 pandemic after Morocco and the US signed a bilateral Enhanced Immunities Agreement. Pompeo held a video teleconference with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, and also commended King Mohammed VI’s advancement of a bold and far-reaching reform agenda over the past two decades. The US encouraged the Moroccan government to continue to support UN-facilitated efforts to resolve the conflict and its destabilizing effects throughout the region. The Secretary highlighted Moroccan efforts in the shared fight against terrorism and the role Morocco plays in preventing violent extremism. Secretary Pompeo also commended Moroccan partnership in preserving the cultural heritage of religious minorities, interfaith dialogue, and religious tolerance.

Praise Report
We praise God for the establishment of the National Coalition of Moroccan Christians and the Moroccan Christians had launched a YouTube channel to explain their faith, answer questions about their patriotism, and refute misconceptions about them (The Bible, Philippians 1:27).

Prayer Requests
We pray that the Moroccan Christians will emerge from the shadows of the past and begin to demand their rights and criticize discriminatory practices in the right manner (The Bible, Titus 1:9).

We pray that the demands submitted to the National Human Rights Council for freedom of worship and the official recognition of churches in the country will be considered favorably (The Bible, Proverbs 31:9).

Call to Salvation
We pray that this desert land will receive streams of God’s living water. Pray that the internet Christian resources will reach people in the remote regions resulting in the mass of people coming to know to the love of God (The Bible, Ephesians 1:9).
