Day 5

Bhutan, South Asia
Known as “the Land of the Thunder Dragon,” Bhutan prides itself on its elevated “happiness” levels despite being considered a least developed country. Rather than relying on Gross Domestic Product as the leading indicator of the small Himalayan nation’s progress, the late King Wangchuk suggested it should examine its "Gross National Happiness." In South Asia, Bhutan ranks highly in economic freedom and per capita income, and ranks low in corruption. It has almost eradicated all extreme poverty. Yet, Christians are denied employment, free education, and access to electricity and water. Buddhism, mysticism and animism have dominated the country since the 7th century.

Praise Report
Though Dzongkha is the official language of Bhutan, Nepali is also widely used. Praise God for Nepali churches who are beginning to have a heart to take the Gospel into Bhutan (The Bible, Matthew 3:5).

Prayer Requests
Pray for Christians to share the love, peace and deep joy that they have found in Jesus Christ. Pray that their testimonies speak louder than the Gross National Happiness (The Bible, Psalm 105:1).

Pray that God will continue to open the doors for Christians to be able to travel into Bhutan, both as tourists, and as long-term Christian workers (The Bible, Isaiah 26:2).

Call to Salvation
Father, today we ask for the nation of Bhutan as an inheritance. Please break them free from the dark powers of Buddhism (The Bible, Psalm 2:8).

Saudi Arabia, Arabian Peninsula
Mohammed bin Salman is the crown prince of Saudi Arabia. The king Salman held a phone call with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. During the call, they discussed the work of the G20 countries, which the Kingdom is chairing this year, and the efforts made within its meetings to mitigate the effects of the CORONAVIRUS pandemic. King Salman said he hoped the G20 would continue their efforts to face the challenges of the pandemic to help the global economy. Johnson praised the Kingdom’s “leadership of the G20 meetings and managing the collective action to confront the consequences of the CORONAVIRUS pandemic.” He also said that he hopes their two countries would further develop and strengthen their bilateral relations. Saudi Arabia continues to witness a decline in the number of daily CORONAVIRUS cases.

Praise Report
We praise God that the new daily recorded cases of COVID-19 affected have been decreasing and the kingdom is vowed to fight the pandemic using all means available and many will escape from death (The Bible, Psalm 68:20).

Prayer Requests
We pray that the severed contact by Saudi authorities with some of the kingdom's most prominent detainees and their families, escalating a crackdown on dissent that threatens to strain relations with Western allies will be resolved (The Bible, Job 6:23).

We pray that the unexpected escalation in Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's crackdown on domestic critics, the arrest of dozens of princes, businessmen, clerics, academics and activists creating a climate of fear will be stalled (The Bible, Psalm 18:1).

Call to Salvation
We pray that the scanty number of Saudi Christians worshiping the Lord in spite of the strict Islamic system will daringly share their Christian faith to the Saudi families (The Bible, Revelation 2:10).
