Day 6

Guinea, West Africa
The peaceful country of Guinea hosts people who live on less than $1 a day, despite the country’s wealthy resources. Ethnic tensions increased with the country divided along equal-sized tribal lines. In recent years there have been significant riots around bauxite mines in the north protesting the destruction of the environment and loss of traditional farmland the mines have brought. Current president, Alpha Conde, was the first freely elected president. Though the constitution says he may only serve for two terms, this year Mr Conde has indicated he plans to run for a third term. Christian Believers enjoy greater freedoms in this Muslim country, but those freedoms steadily erode. Evangelical Christians number less than 1%.

Praise Report
Praise God for the relative peace this nation has enjoyed and ask God to protect this peace going into its future (The Bible, Psalm 40:2).

Prayer Requests
Though evangelical Christians number less than one percent, that number is decreasing as nominal Christians fall away. Pray for this decline to begin to reverse as churches wake up to the need to address this issue (The Bible, Revelation 3:1-3).

Pray that the government will have wisdom to make wise decisions that protect the people from the COVID-19 virus, but also from the economic hardships that follow (The Bible, Exodus 33:19).

Call to Salvation
Pray that the COVID-19 pandemic stirs churches to actions of love and service in the community, and stirs hearts of those who don’t know God to seek after the Lord Jesus Christ (The Bible, 1 Chronicles 16:10).

Thailand, Southeast Asia
Thailand means “Land of the free;” however, many are in bondage. Despite a relatively stable and industrialized economy, slavery, sex-tourism and trafficking, drugs and organized crime are rampant. A constitutional monarchy since 1932, a new king ascended the throne at the end of 2016 who signed a new military-drafted constitution during 2017 designed to pave the way for a return to democracy after numerous coups. However, lack of respect for human rights, freedom of speech and political freedom continues to rise. Critics say the new constitution has only strengthened the sweeping, unchecked and unaccountable military powers. A staggering 99 percent of Thailand remains unreached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The economic impact of COVID-19 in Thailand has been severe with massive cuts in the tourism industry.

Praise Report
Thailand increased the number of prosecutions related to human trafficking. Praise God for this trend and pray that it will increase even more (The Bible, Proverbs 29:16).

Prayer Requests
Thailand is one of the most unequal societies in terms of wealth gap. The top one percent control 67 percent of the nation’s wealth. Pray for the wealthy to have encounters with the Living God. Pray that the poor will be taken care of (The Bible, Psalm 84:3).

There is a real lack of trained national pastors in Thailand. Out of 4,000 churches, only 2,000 have full time pastors. Ask God to raise up more Christian Believers who will train to become pastors. (The Bible, Luke 9:2).

Call to Salvation
With such staggering numbers of unreached peoples in Thailand, pray that the Church will capture a vision for missions and evangelism, resulting in massive church growth in this coming year (The Bible, Proverbs 11:30).
